ENTRY 1 – NGUYỄN THỊ THÁI
Item
1: Poem
Please look a little
deeper
Please don’t judge me by my face,
By my region or my race,
Please don’t laugh at what I wear,
Or how I look or do my hair,
Please look a little deeper,
Way deep down inside,
And although you may not see it
I have a lot to hide
Behind my clothes my secrets lie
Behind my smile, I softly cry
Please look a little deeper,
And maybe you will see,
The lonely little girl
That lives inside of me
Please listen carefully to her
She’ll show you she’s insecure,
Please try to be a friend to her,
And show her that you care
Please just get to know her
And maybe you will see
That maybe if you look deep enough
You’ll find the real me
Rhetorical devices:
Simile: my secrets – lonely little girl
Rhyme: face – race, hide – lie, smile – cry
Antithesis: smile – cry
Repetition: behind, inside, please, please don’t,
please look

appearance but must appreciate the inside of them.

3: Song
Trouble is a friend
“…Trouble
is the friend but trouble is the foe. Oh oh
and no matter what I feed him always seem to grow. Oh, oh,
He sees what I see and he knows what I know.
So don't forget as you easy on down the road
He's there in the dark
He's there in my heart
He waits in the wind
He gotta play a part
Trouble is a friend
Yeah , trouble is a friend of mine.
Oh, oh,
so don't alarmed if he takes you by the arm
I won't let him win, but I'm a sucker for his charm.
Trouble is a friend
Yeah, trouble is friend of mine.
Oh oh...”

Your first entry is really a new fresh air with a song (of LENKA^^). It's quite good. I would like to give you some options that you can choose forl your entry in order to make it more complete^^
Trả lờiXóa*item 1:
-rhetorical devices:
+rhyme: wear - hair.
-message: no one has a right to judge the other just by the way they look like.
*item 2:
-rhetorical devices:
+metaphor: "I’m a sucker – his charm" ??? what do you mean?
-message: life will be easier when considering troubles as friends.
Moreover, in my point of view, it should be included the sources and the author with each item.

Trả lờiXóaI have some comments about your entry as following:
Trả lờiXóa- In your first item, in addition to rhytorical devices, the author uses :
+ Repetition: "Please look a little deeper"
+ Parallelism : "Behind my clothes my secrets lie
Behind my smile, I softly cry"
- In the third item , the author repeats "Trouble is a friend", "trouble is a friend of mine" twice times and uses parallelism "He's there in the dark
He's there in my heart" .Message that author want to give that life is not easy and comfortable, there are a lot difficulties what u should cope up and deal with and get over.
