Items 1

YOU!!!!

Like a star you came into my life
You filled my heart with joy
You took my pain as if it was yours
You provided me with love that no one could give me
You gave me a shoulder to cry on
You were my pillar when I was falling
You were my strength when I was weak
With your smile you made my living on earth worthwhile
With the soft words you whispered in my ear
Made me realize that I was in Love indeed
Without you next to me my life is meaningless
Every day I sit and pray that you will remain as sweet as you
are
And that is why I will always Love you as long as you let me.

I.                  Rhetorical devices
1.     Simile: ‘ like a star’; ‘ were my pillar’; ‘ were my strength’
2.     Overstatement: ‘ fill my heart with joy’
3.     Repetition: ‘you took, you provided, you gave....’; ‘with your smile, with the soft words....’
II.               Meaning.
The appearance of the character ‘you’ is very meaningful to the one in the poem. This is really as significant as his life since he is brought with a great deal of happiness and encouraged to overcome every sadness. That is the reason why he wants to spend all of his deep love for the lover as the noble and faithful love that he receives.
III.           Message
The faithful and deep love has the very great strength that makes people’s lives more and more meaningful, so we should respect what we receive.

Two Wolves Story

An elderly Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life.
He said to them, "A fight is going on inside me, it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One wolf is evil---he is fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, competition, superiority, and ego.
The other is good ---he is joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.
This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too."
They thought about it for a minute, and then one child asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win, Grandfather?"
The Elder simply replied, "The one you feed.

I.                   Rhetorical devices:
-         Metaphor: two wolves are two different faces of one person. ( One wolf has bad temper : fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret….. and the other has good temper : joy, peace, love, hope, sharing,……)
II.                 Message:
The development of good character depends on daily choices that everyone makes.

Two roosters were fighting by a heap of dung .One rooster was stronger than the other. He fought the other rooster and drove him away from the dung, the hens crowded round the rooster and praised him..
The rooster wanted everyone in the neighboring yard to hear of his strength and prowess. So he flew up onto the shed, flapped his wings and cried out::
" Look at me ,everyone. I beat a rooster! There is no other rooster in the world as strong as me."
At the moment, an eagle flew up, knocked the rooster down, dug his claws into him and carried him off to his nest.
